Birdie is a sex education app created by Planned Parenthood, a non-profit organization that provides reproductive health care in the United States. The Birdie app – the product of extensive user research and interviews with health educators and psychologists – provides parents with guidance, coaching, information, activities, and reminders: everything they need to talk to their kids about the birds and the bees (hence the name and the iconography theme).

Birdie removes the awkward factor (for the most part) and helps parents sound informed on any particular sex-related subject.

Working as the creative director allowed me to set the overall visual style of the app, while also use my illustration and animation skills as I created an original interface that would surface customized information in an easy to use organic card system. I lead the user research and UX process and created a compelling and original visual design, including iconography, illustrations, and interactions.
